Hi! :) Today I'm going to share my experience and portfolio of working abroad. I spent 3 and a half months working in London as a marketing & public relation intern at Overland Shoes, which is the European footwear licensee for G.H. Bass Footwear. The office is located in Camden, which cool because I get to visit many different stores and markets during lunch time! hehe, also it's only 20 minutes from home by bus!

As a PR and marketing intern, I worked closely with the dynamic and creative PR and marketing team. My supervisor and marketing manager, Jordan, gave me a lot of responsibilities and freedom, and I couldn't have asked for a better experience. Everyone in the office was very welcoming and friendly! I was really exposed to the magazine and fashion PR industry in London, Paris, and Amsterdam.

My desk!

Reporting to Jordan, I did manage the press sample shoes, compile and keep track of press clippings, event planning assistance, PR agency communication, survey and research.

My daily tasks would be counting PR samples and maintain count list, create labels for sample shoe boxes, daily DHL/courier tasks, manage magazine subscriptions, update press clippings report, contact PR agencies across Europe to send press clippings, send out press sample shoes and image requests and research for social media strategy, etc.

Twice a year G.H. Bass hold a sales conference to showcase their collection before they begin to market them to press, buyers, and public. I helped the team to prepare everything from cleaning up the showroom, organising the display, to renting TV for presentation, furniture such as tables and chairs, and buying food for breakfast before the sales conference started.

These are some of the projects I did:

I got to style some outfits for the G.H. Bass polyvore account to show people how to style the shoes and prove them that these shoes are perfect for any occasion!

The most exciting task was when they gave me full responsibility to organise PR gift for bloggers to create awareness of the brand. Jordan asked me to create an Americana vibe type of hampers, so I came up with the idea of having a bourbon whiskey, chocolate, socks, shoe care kit, and handkerchiefs for man, and candle for woman. As you can see from the slide show below, streetgentry, london based man lifestyle blogger, post it to his instagram, and eventually, it will create brand awareness!

Jordan and I took some product photos for social media content!

And many more projects I have listed before.

This was an incredible opportunity I would never have attained without the help of The Intern Group. I got to meet and be friends with other interns from US, Australia, Africa and many other countries all over the world. The Intern London staff are all fantastic, they really do want for me to get the most out of the program. All the events and meet ups, it was very well organised! It really was an amazing experience, working abroad, meeting new people and learn other cultures. For me, doing internship abroad gained much needed industry experience and exposure.
